bearing
Also called: quadrant bearing
A direction measured from north or south, written like N 45°30′00″ E.
A direction given as an angle turned off of north or south, toward east or west — for example N 45°30′00″ E. The leading letter, the angle, and the trailing letter together place the line in one of the four quadrants, so every bearing angle falls between 0° and 90°.
