point of beginning

Also called: POB, true point of beginning

The corner the description starts from — and must return to.

The corner where the boundary walk starts and ends. Everything before it in the text is usually a commencement route: directions from a known monument or section corner used only to reach the parcel. A closed traverse ends back at the point of beginning.
