misclosure

Also called: closure error, error of closure, misclose

The gap between where the last call lands and the point of beginning.

The distance between the end of the traverse and the corner it was supposed to return to. It is usually reported as north and east components, plus a total distance. A misclosure near zero means the calls agree with each other; a large one means a bearing, a distance, or a curve was written, typed, or read incorrectly.
